Paramethoxyamphetamine (para-meth-oxy-am-fet-a-meen) also known as PMA, Pink McDonalds, Yellow Rockstar and Green Rolex is similar to MDMA (the active ingredient in ecstasy) although much stronger.  Increasingly PMA is being found in tablets marketed as ecstasy and a number of people have been hospitalised in the UK after taking this drug.

The substance PMMA is closely related.

PMA is a strong psychedelic (trippy) stimulant (upper) drug which can make users feel alert, alive and full of energy.  It also increases your heart rate, breathing and blood pressure.  People using it can experience visual hallucinations and a feeling of closeness to others as well as muscle spasms, nausea and vomiting and a dangerous increase in body temperature.

It comes as a white, beige, pink or yellow powder but more recently is being found in pressed pills which are swallowed.  These tablets are reported to be thicker than typical ecstasy tablets and are often referred to as ‘double stacked’.  A typical dose for PMA is much smaller than for MDMA and the effects can hit you twice as hard.  These doses should not be taken as recommendations.
